About Me

I am trained both as a classical and jazz violinist. I earned my Bachelor degree in music from Northwestern University, and my Masters degree from DePaul University, studying classically at both schools with highly acclaimed teachers. Later, I listened to one of my favorite blues singers, the late Big Walter Smith, and was inspired to improvise. I loved the smooth flow of Big Walter's voice, and learning to emulate him on the violin was a huge challenge that I was ready to undertake. I studied jazz violin with the great Gary Schulte, but I never dropped my classical roots.

I am so happy to be able to play various styles with so many wonderful musicians. For weddings and parties, I offer Ovation String Quartet, a traditional string quartet that plays classical as well as other styles, including my own jazz and contemporary music arrangements. Another group for special events is Uptown Mixx, a swing jazz group.  Poetic Sound plays our own arrangements of real Classic songs from the 60’s to the present.  In addition, I play with Omega Gathering (contemporary church band) and singer-songwriter Lizzy Rain.

Whatever style I am playing, I bring my passion and energy into the music.

Please see the sections on my groups and listen to samples. Enjoy!!
