I began the violin at age 9 at my Father's suggestion. Not realizing that I had totally committed to learn the instrument, I was surprised when a violin was purchased and first lesson scheduled, but went along with the plan. After growing up playing in the Anoka school system, All-State Orchestra and GTCYS, I went on to earn music degrees from Northwestern University (B.M.E.) and DePaul University (M.M.), studying classically at both schools with highly acclaimed teachers. Later, inspired to improvise, I studied jazz violin with Gary Schulte, and now play music of many genres. I love teaching private students at Blue Tree Music Education in Minneapolis, and in my spare time I enjoy Sudoku, crossword puzzles, reading, taking regular walks and working out.
I am so happy to be able to play various styles with so many wonderful musicians. For weddings and parties, I offer Ovation String Quartet, a traditional string quartet that plays classical as well as other styles, including my own jazz and contemporary music arrangements. Ladies and Gents is bluegrass oriented, but we play many recognizable Classics in our own folksy style. This group consists of violin, guitar/vocals and upright bass, and performs for weddings, parties, and any type of special event.
Whatever style I am playing, I bring my passion and energy into the music.
Please see the sections on my groups and listen to samples. Enjoy!!
